Although bulkhead seating airplane has many advantages, there are also some drawbacks to take into account. The absence of underseat storage is a significant drawback, requiring all personal belongings and carry-on bags to be stored in the overhead compartment during takeoff and landing. Furthermore, the seats are somewhat less flexible and thinner than typical ones because tray tables and entertainment displays are frequently hidden in the armrests. Certain bulkhead seats may be subject to increased foot traffic and noise levels, particularly those close to galleys or restrooms. Additionally, taller passengers may feel constrained by the permanent wall in front, which may hamper their ability to stretch their legs. Last but not least, some bulkhead seats, particularly those placed in front of an escape row, do not fully recline.
